How grateful I am to be a part of a Church where the apostles and prophet care so much for the women in the Church.
In a book written by Elder M. Russell Ballard entitled ,"Daughters of God." he shares an outline that he received of how women see themselves:
age 3: She looks at her self and sees a queen
age 8: She looks at her self and sees Cinderella
age 15: She looks at her self and sees an ugly duckling. ("Mom, I can't go to school looking like this today!:")
age 20: She looks a herself and sees "too fat/too thin, too short/too tall, too straight/too curly" but decides she's going out anyways.
age 30: she looks at herself and sees "too fat/too thin, too short/too tall, too straight//too curly" but decides she doesn't have time to fix it so she's going out anyway.
age 40: she looks at herself and sees "too fat/too thin, too short/too tall, too straight//too curly" but says "at least I am clean," and goes out anyway.
age 50: she looks at herself and sees "I am what I am" and goes wherever she wants to go.
age 60: She looks at herself and reminds herself of all the people who can't even see themselves in the mirror anymore. Goes out and conquers the world.
age 70: She looks at herself and sees wisdom, laughter, and ability and goes out and enjoys life.
age 80: Doesn't bother to look. Just puts on a purple hat and goes out to have fun with the world.
He then says the mortal is, maybe we should grab that purple hat a little earlier.
We as women can be so judgmental of ourselves that we don't take the time to see the things that we are good at as we focus on the things we feel we aren't doing well or may want to change. We need to realize that we are Daughters of Our Heavenly Father who loves us just the way we are.
Elder Ballard quotes Elder James E. Talmage, "The world's greatest champion of woman and womanhood is Jesus Christ." How great it is to know that Jesus Christ is cheering us on and is mindful of us.
Another great book written by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf entitled, "The Remarkable Soul of A Woman," he states: "Most of all. I am grateful for who you are: A treasured daughter of Our Heavenly Father with infinite worth."
I feel that everyday we need to remember that we are truly daughters of Our Heavenly Father and he loves us each for who we are and not what we are lacking in. He is truly there to cheer us on, lift us u when we are down and be a constant blessing in our lives. How great it is to know that He is there and always mindful of us and has His prophets and apostles to share how he feels about us women and to remember who we are.
