I have given you an example
Elder Richard G. Scott
Today in institute we read over the talk by Elder Richard G Scott. one of the points that really stood out to me was:
* At vital times in my life, Father in Heaven blessed me with someone who cared for me enough to help guide my choices in an appropriate direction.
- I have seen this in my life. He has truly blessed me with some wonderful leaders and amazing friends who have shaped me and helped me become the person I am today. He continues to put new people in my path that will help me become the best me possible.
We finished class singing the first verse of Each Life that touches ours for Good. It is one of my favorite songs. I first really came to know this song when we sang it at my grandma Fran's funeral. She truly was an amazing person that touched so many lives. The first verse reads:
"Each life that touches ours for good reflects thine own great mercy Lord; Thou sendest blessings from above thru words and deeds of those who love."
Our Heavenly Father is truly mindful of us and watches out for each and everyone of us. The quote by President Spencer W Kimball comes to mind, "God does notice us, and He watches over us. But it is usually through another person that He meets our needs." How truly blessed we are to know that our Heavenly Father truly watches out for each and everyone of us.
Another point that really stood out to me from Elder Scott's talk was: "For so many in the world, the first challenge in accepting the gospel is to develop faith in a Father in Heaven, who loves them perfectly. It is easier to develop that faith when when they have friends or family members who love them in a similar way."
We need to first show them that we love them for who they truly are and not just try to push our faith and religion on them. Elder Scott says in his talk that we can also ask them questions that make them think and to let them ponder them and not expect an answer right away. It may take a couple of minutes or a couple of days.
Elder Scott also says, "Remember, loving them is the powerful foundation for influencing those you want to help." Everyone can use someone that loves them for who they are and we can do that and be an wonderful example.
One of my favorite scriptures is in the foot notes of Elder Scott's talk and that is Phillipians 4:13- I can do all things through Christ which strengthenth me. Another verse that I usually associate with this scripture is Luke 1:37- For with God nothing shall be impossible. Our Heavenly Father is there and will help us know how or whom we should be mindful of and help. He will strenghthen us as we strengthen those that we love.
I am truly grateful everyday that I am a member of this Church and that I know that my Savior loves me and is mindful of me and wants what is truly best for me.
